Prof. Jean Claude Mbanya

Prof. Jean Claude Mbanya, MD, PhD, MRCP (UK), FRCP (London), is a distinguished professor of Medicine and Endocrinology at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Yaoundé I, Cameroon. He serves as the Postgraduate Dean of the Doctoral School of Life, Health, and Environmental Sciences and is the Director of the National Obesity Centre at the Central Hospital in Yaoundé.

Prof. Mbanya is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, the World Academy of Sciences, and the African Academy of Sciences. He has received numerous awards, including the Harold Rifkin Award from the American Diabetes Association and the Philip Sherlock Award.

Prof Mbanya has published over 240 papers in peer-reviewed journals and is a leading figure in international diabetes advocacy, having played a key role in the passage of the United Nations Resolution on Diabetes and the UN Political Declaration on NCDs.

Prof. Theodore Ngatchu

Prof. Theodore Ngatchu, MD, FRCP, Exec MBA, is a distinguished Senufo consultant internist, gastroenterologist and hepatologist at The University Hospitals Birmingham and an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Birmingham Medical School UK. He runs a private practice at Spire Parkway Hospital Solihull.

He has an interest in liver diseases including viral hepatitis and has published extensively. He has also an interest in bowel disease, gastrointestinal cancer, and therapeutic endoscopy.

Prof. Ngatchu completed his medical degree at the University of Padua, Italy, and his postgraduate training in gastroenterology, hepatology, and therapeutic endoscopy in Padua and London. He has held various roles at prestigious institutions such as the Royal Free, St Mary’s, and Hammersmith Hospitals in London.

Prof. Ngatchu is known for his expertise in managing complex gastrointestinal conditions and his commitment to advancing medical education and patient care.

Prof. Ngatchu will lead the second working session, which will be on Upper and Lower gastrointestinal bleeding, at the CamDocUK medical seminar.

Prof. Alfred Njamnshi

Prof. Alfred K. Njamnshi, MD, MA, DMS, FMH, FCAS, FAAS, FRCP (UK), is a distinguished professor of Neurology and Neuroscience at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Yaoundé I, Cameroon. He is the founder and head of the Neuroscience Laboratory and chairs the neurology and neuroscience residency programs. Prof. Njamnshi is also the Chief of Neurology at Yaoundé Central Hospital.

He holds an MD from the University of Yaoundé and is Swiss-Board Certified in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology. Additionally, he has an MA in Medical Education from the UK and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP). Prof. Njamnshi has published over 180 peer-reviewed scientific articles and is the Founder and Executive Director of the Brain Research Africa Initiative (BRAIN), promoting neuroscience research and brain health in Africa.

At the CamDocUK Medical Seminar, Prof. Njamnshi will share on some Perspectives and challenges in diagnosing and managing NCD emergencies in Cameroon.

Prof. Oudou Njoya

Prof. Oudou Njoya, MD, is a distinguished Hepato-Gastroenterologist. He is the former Vice Dean for Research and Cooperation, and former head of Department of Internal Medicine and Specialities at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University of Yaoundé I (FMSB/UYI). He presides over the Scientific Council of the Cameroonian Network Against Viral Hepatitis and leads the Laboratory for Research on Viral Hepatitis and Health Communication (LRHCS-FMSB/UYI). Additionally, he serves as the Technical Director of the University Hospital Center of Yaoundé (CHUY). Prof. Njoya is dedicated to advancing medical research and education, particularly in the field of viral hepatitis.

At the conference, he will deliver a Masterclass on Acute Liver failure/fatty liver (in Cameroon).

Prof. Simeon Pierre Choukem

Prof. Simeon Pierre Choukem, MD, MBA, FCAS, FRCP, is a renowned endocrinologist and professor of Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Dschang, Cameroon. He is the inaugural Dean of this faculty, appointed in 2018.

Prof. Choukem has a distinguished academic and clinical career, having previously served at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Buea, and the Douala General Hospital. His research focuses on diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and other non-communicable diseases, with numerous publications in these areas.

At the CamDocUK Medical Seminar, Prof. Choukem will give us an overview of emergencies in non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Dr. Emma Mitchell

Dr. Emma Mitchell is a renowned geriatrician at Southmead Hospital, with a particular focus on Parkinson’s disease. She’s dedicated to improving the quality of life for elderly patients and has conducted groundbreaking research on aging and frailty. Her work has led to significant advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.

Dr. Mitchell also serves as the Associate Global Director for International Medical Graduates at the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) in London. In this capacity, she supports and guides international medical graduates, helping them integrate into the UK healthcare system and advance their careers.

Dr. Mitchell is a respected leader in geriatric medicine, known for her innovative work and commitment to global health.

Dr. Linda Bello

Dr. Linda Bello, BSc(Hons), MBBS, MRCGP, GP Trainer RCPathME, is a distinguished medical professional with a robust academic background and extensive experience in general practice. She completed her medical degree and postgraduate training in London and currently works at Colchester Medical Practice. In addition to her clinical duties, she is actively involved in training GPs and serves on the board of the Faculty of the RCGP in Essex.

Dr. Bello is a dedicated GP who provides comprehensive patient care, manages chronic illnesses, and offers preventive services. She is also involved in medical education, research, and healthcare policy, significantly contributing to the medical community.

For the past four years, Dr. Bello has been the chairperson of CamdocUK. During her tenure, she successfully led the PPE project in 2020, which provided essential PPE to Cameroon. Under her leadership, CamdocUK has received three awards., and she will lead one of the masterclass sessions at the conference on Communicating emergencies to patients.
